"State of readiness is elevated", but "the coming hours will be critical" for firefighters

The commander of the Cabo Ruivo Fire Brigade, Ricardo Pastor, warns that the ground is saturated and there is a high risk of flooding, falling trees and landslides/ground movements. He urges people to take personal safety measures, to avoid unnecessary travel and to remove belongings from risk areas as a precaution.
