Centre of Marine Sciences awards research on the reproductive cycle of eels
A research project aimed at the full-cycle captive breeding of eels was one of the winners of the first edition of the CCMAR-SPARC. This award is designed to empower early-career researchers and boost professional development. Currently, eel aquaculture relies on capturing juveniles in the wild rather than breeding them in a controlled environment. The project by researcher Leonor Ferrão, winner of the CCMAR award, aims to shorten the path toward closing the reproductive cycle.
