Portugal Records Cheap Electricity but High Domestic Gas Prices

Household electricity prices in Portugal remained below the European Union and eurozone averages during the first half of 2026, according to the energy regulator Entidade Reguladora dos Serviços Energéticos (ERSE). However, domestic natural gas prices ranked as the third highest in the bloc at 0.13 euros per kilowatt-hour, tied with France. Despite the high ranking, household gas costs fell 10 percent year-on-year, mirroring price drops recorded across several European nations.
