The Council of Ministers has approved a national strategy for 2026 and 2027 to reduce workplace accidents, which remain above the European average. In 2025, Portugal recorded over 184,000 workplace accidents, including 136 fatalities. The plan focuses on integrating safety training into education, providing technical support to small and medium-sized enterprises, and increasing digital monitoring.
