The process will only resume following a new inspection by the control body. The certification, which is voluntary and exceeds EU legal requirements, will be reinstated once the control body validates the conditions of the facilities. Portugal was hit by a series of storms between late January and early February, causing widespread destruction, particularly in the central region, with pig farmers describing the situation as the worst crisis in history, affecting half of the country's farms and causing millions of euros in losses.
