The Judiciary Police (PJ) reported this Monday, March 30, that they have located a two-month-old baby who had been missing for ten days after the mother failed to appear at an official social support facility. In an operation led by the National Counter-Terrorism Unit of Santarém, the child was found with the mother last Friday in Nazaré. According to a PJ statement, the newborn was 'at risk' due to the 'identification of negligent behaviors by the mother, namely the inability to provide basic care such as hygiene, feeding, and clothing, as well as the existence of aggressive reactions.' This assessment had previously led to the baby being removed from the mother and placed in a Santa Casa da Misericórdia institution. The child is 'now safe' under the guardianship of the Santarém Family and Juvenile Court, 'aiming to ensure their safety, well-being, and physical integrity.'
