A Moral Education teacher, sentenced to eight years in prison for 62 counts of sexual abuse against 15 students at a school in Famalicão, has been dismissed by the Ministry of Education. The Ministry, led by Fernando Alexandre, stated that the sanction is 'fair and proportionate' given the gravity of the crimes and the teacher's position of responsibility. The Guimarães Court found that the defendant, who also taught theatre, manipulated students by creating an environment conducive to abuse between 2014 and 2018. The court rejected the teacher's claims of a conspiracy, describing him as a master of manipulation who showed no remorse or empathy for his victims.
