Mapfre profits grow 12.7% in Q1 to 311 million

Spanish insurer Mapfre announced profits of 311 million euros in the first quarter of 2026, a 12.7% increase compared to the same period in 2025, the company informed the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV). Despite a 2.2% reduction in the value of premiums — to 8.4 billion euros, affected by currency depreciation — the group's total revenue stood at 9.697 billion euros, a 1.9% drop compared to the first three months of last year. Mapfre states that all regions where it operates contributed positively to the quarterly result. In the Iberian Peninsula, profits reached 137.8 million euros, representing a 13.9% increase. In Portugal, the volume of premiums stood at 107 million euros in the first quarter. Chairman Antonio Huertas described the period as “an excellent first quarter,” stressing that, despite the “complex geopolitical context,” the group's profitability continues to improve and there is “cautious optimism” for 2026. In 2025, the group recorded a record net profit of 1.1 billion euros, 19.6% more than the previous year. Mapfre is investing 70 million in rebranding after four decades.
