Coordinator Rute Agulhas stated that victims are primarily seeking help rather than financial compensation. Meanwhile, the President of the Portuguese Episcopal Conference, José Ornelas, has criticised the potential taxation of compensation payments to victims, calling it ethically unacceptable.
