The National Republican Guard (GNR) detected nearly 73,000 vehicles circulating without mandatory inspection last year, averaging around 200 per day, with one in four cases occurring in Lisbon and Porto. In a statement, the GNR indicated that over 17,000 vehicles have already been caught without inspection this year up to March 23rd, with 6,782 cases recorded in January alone. The GNR emphasizes the importance of vehicle inspections for safety and notes that the Porto district had the highest number of non-compliant vehicles (10,212), followed by Lisbon (8,117). The GNR also provided guidelines on inspection intervals for different vehicle types and announced the start of a special nationwide road enforcement operation this Monday.
