Seguro convenes first Council of State for 17 April on Security and Defence

The President of the Republic, António José Seguro, has called his first Council of State for 17 April to discuss security and defence, as previously announced during his campaign. The meeting will take place at the Belém Palace at 3:00 PM. This follows Seguro's first 'Open Presidency' tour, scheduled for 6-10 April. During the presidential campaign, Seguro pledged to prioritise this topic to maintain national consensus and strengthen Europe and Portugal's strategic autonomy. The Council of State, an advisory body to the President, currently lacks full membership as the Assembly of the Republic has yet to appoint its representatives, and Seguro has not yet named his own appointees.
