Government approves plan to protect pollinator species

The Portuguese government has approved a conservation and sustainability plan for pollinating insects, funded by the Environmental Fund. The initiative, developed under the PolinizAÇÃO project, aims to protect over 3,700 species of bees, butterflies, and hoverflies. The plan focuses on scientific research, sustainable land management, public engagement, and integrating conservation into public policy, with two million euros allocated for 2026 and 2027.
