Shooting near Montijo school leaves two injured

Two young men were shot on Wednesday, April 8, in the late afternoon during a shooting incident near a school in Montijo, according to CNN Portugal. At around 7:30 PM, an individual on an electric scooter fired several shots near the Joaquim de Almeida Basic School, hitting two young men: one, aged 19, was struck in the arm; the other, aged 23, suffered injuries to his arm and back. According to CNN Portugal, the suspect, who fled on the scooter after the shooting, has been identified and is already known to the authorities. The victims were treated on-site by emergency services and transported to hospitals in Barreiro and Almada. CNN Portugal reports that the incident may have been a settling of scores, as the two injured men were allegedly members of a gang. The Correio da Manhã reports that the Judicial Police have taken over the investigation.
