Handball: Sporting coach and player taken to hospital after intense smell in Dragão dressing room

The Sporting handball team complained of an intense smell of bleach or a toxic substance in the Dragão Arena dressing room before their match against FC Porto, forcing them to change outside the cabins, according to reports from A Bola and Record. Coach Ricardo Costa and pivot Moga required medical assistance and were transported to a hospital on the advice of the medical team. Other players from the Sporting squad also felt unwell. Match delegates described the smell as 'numbing' and decided to delay the match, originally scheduled for 6:00 PM, by 15 minutes. According to Record, Sporting reported the incident to the Portuguese Handball Federation, which requested that FC Porto inspect the dressing rooms, though no abnormalities were found. The case is expected to be reviewed by the relevant authorities and bodies, as questions are raised regarding safety conditions at the venue.
