Chinese firm CATL develops 1,500 km battery, accelerating race with BYD

Chinese manufacturer CATL has announced the development of a battery capable of powering an electric vehicle for up to 1,500 kilometres on a single charge, intensifying competition with rival BYD. The new version of the Qilin battery significantly exceeds the range of the previous generation, which reached about 1,000 kilometres, and also features improved charging speeds. CATL also unveiled an update to its Shenxing battery, which can charge from 10% to 98% in six and a half minutes, outperforming the latest Blade battery from BYD. These advancements aim to address consumer concerns regarding charging time, long-distance range, and performance in extreme temperatures, further cementing China's dominant position in the global electric vehicle battery market.
