In the first month since the ban on selling alcoholic drinks for street consumption in Lisbon came into effect, municipal police issued 16 notices of violation. The local authority stated that the initial focus was on educating merchants about the new rules, which were implemented to address noise complaints in tourist-heavy areas. Despite the measures, residents' associations, including the Plataforma Lisboa, report that street crowds have returned, and they are calling for stricter enforcement and a new noise regulation to be discussed with Mayor Carlos Moedas.
