Air France-KLM has submitted a non-binding proposal to Parpública for the acquisition of TAP. CEO Benjamin Smith stated that the airline would thrive as part of the Air France-KLM group, leveraging its legacy. The group plans to use Lisbon as a key hub for Southern Europe, enhancing connectivity to Brazil and Africa, while also expanding operations in cities like Porto. This move marks the first public step by one of the three bidders—including Lufthansa and IAG—in the privatisation process for a 44.9% stake in the Portuguese carrier.
