On the verge of moving house, I reflected on the bonds formed in the parish where I lived for the last five years. Moving is a form of migration that forces us to invent new habits and adapt to a new environment. From the cobbler and the pharmacist to the local shopkeepers, I bid farewell to the people and routines that defined my daily life. Now, in my new apartment, I am once again a newcomer, mapping out the local services and learning the new rhythms of a different part of Lisbon.
