An 89-metre cargo ship was left adrift outside the bar at Figueira da Foz after losing its rudder. With no tugs available at the nearest ports, the vessel is awaiting assistance as the port community warns that worsening sea conditions increase the risk of sinking. The fishing community says the excess sand is a very serious problem and fears a tragedy if a tug does not arrive in time.
