VivaGym acquires Synergym and creates an Iberian network with over 450 gyms

VivaGym has acquired gym operator Synergym in a deal that will create a network of more than 450 establishments across the Iberian Peninsula, strengthening its growth strategy in the fitness sector, the gym chain announced today. The operation, still subject to regulatory approval, brings together two companies with complementary presence in the low-cost gym segment in Portugal and Spain. Although the deal value was not disclosed, the company stated that the merger will create a large-scale sports and wellness platform aimed at improving customer experience, expanding service offerings, and strengthening geographical presence. In a statement, VivaGym CEO Cristina Burzako said the deal represents a 'decisive moment' for the company, allowing it to accelerate expansion and increase access to fitness services in the region. Synergym Holding General Manager Jordi Bella added that the operation is the culmination of a successful expansion phase for Synergym. The acquisition process will be supported by Providence Equity Partners. Gyms: Technology is the new weapon to gain market share and reduce costs.
