Nine years on, the Lisbon Administrative Court is set to hear the lawsuit filed by former Prime Minister José Sócrates against the Portuguese State in 2017 regarding Operation Marquês. Sócrates claims the sudden scheduling of the trial is a reaction to his complaint at the European Court of Human Rights, accusing the State of acting out of fear of European jurisdiction.
