The inauguration programme for António José Seguro as President of the Republic continues this Tuesday in Arganil, Guimarães and Porto, following Monday's official ceremonies. At 11:00, the new President will visit the village of Mourísia, in the municipality of Arganil, which was surrounded by flames in 2025 and which he visited last summer. In the afternoon, he will visit the Landscape Laboratory in Guimarães, the European Green Capital for 2026. The day concludes in Porto with a reception at the City Hall and a concert at Casa da Música. Seguro, who was elected with a record 66.84% of the vote, has pledged to be a president for all of Portugal, focusing on social justice and political stability.

Context & Explainers
Sustainability (sustentabilidade) means meeting present needs without reducing the ability of future generations to meet theirs, covering environmental, economic and social dimensions. For residents it affects local planning, jobs and services—look for municipal or company targets, timelines and measurable actions when assessing how sustainable a place or employer is.
