“I felt the pressure, but I am happy”: Diogo Carmona marks Portugal’s debut at the Winter Paralympics
Diogo Carmona made history as the first Portuguese athlete to compete in the Winter Paralympics at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Games. Competing in the banked slalom SB-LL2 event, Carmona finished 18th after the competition schedule was moved forward due to adverse weather forecasts. Despite some frustration with his performance, the 28-year-old snowboarder, who transitioned from adaptive skateboarding, expressed pride in representing his country and paving the way for future Portuguese winter athletes.
