In 2024 Portugal was the fifth country in the European Union with the highest revenues generated by foreign tourists, amounting to €28 billion. Spain led with €98 billion, followed by France, Italy and Germany.

Portugal also climbed to fourth place among European Union countries where international tourism accounts for the largest share of the economy, surpassed only by Croatia, Malta and Cyprus.

Tourist accommodation recorded revenues of €393.5 million in November. The tourism sector registered 2.2 million guests and 5.1 million overnight stays in the same month.

The tourism sector is expected to achieve unprecedented revenues, reaching 30 billion euros this year, marking a significant milestone for the industry.
