Portugal lost on Thursday to Hungary 28–4 in the third matchday of Group B at the Women's European Water Polo Championship in Funchal, finishing third in the group and progressing to the next phase to play for ninth place in the tournament.
The national team opened with a 12-7 victory in Group B, with four goals from Maria Machado. On Tuesday they face Olympic champions Spain in the Madeira tournament.
