Some victims of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church have already been informed by telephone that their requests for financial compensation have been rejected, a source from the Portuguese Episcopal Conference (CEP) confirmed today.
Victims of sexual crimes committed by Church members who are not entitled to compensation have already begun to be contacted by telephone.
All individuals who submitted a compensation claim will be notified of the decision, whether it is positive or negative.

Victims will receive notification of the “duly substantiated” decision “soon”, the episcopal conference guarantees, without, however, providing details on the amounts to be paid.
