The City Council admits to reviewing the Local Housing Strategy “to evaluate new rehousing”, but only after June 30, when the PRR funding ends.

Six people had to be rehoused overnight after a crane fell onto five buildings in the centre of Figueira da Foz, the Sub-regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of the Coimbra Region said today.

The local authority stressed that, so far, there are no overall figures for the damage, which is expected to be very high.

The mayor of Coimbra confirms that residents of the building hit by an explosion in Vale das Flores will have to be rehoused as a precaution while safety inspections are carried out. The council says it will provide municipal support to the affected families and assures that, for now, there is no risk of another explosion.

Mainland Portugal recorded 713 incidents due to bad weather by 20:00 today, mostly affecting the North region and Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, and prompting the rehousing of one family in the municipality of Oeiras.

Affected residents have since been rehoused by the local authority.
