Members of two football supporters' groups caused panic in Barreiro on Sunday night after violent clashes. The Barreirense and Olímpico do Montijo supporters engaged in mutual attacks in the street, using pyrotechnic devices. Everything was captured on amateur footage. The match between the two teams had no police presence and, by the time the PSP (Public Security Police) arrived, those involved had already dispersed.

The Analysis Report on Violence Associated with Sport combines data from the PNID and APCVD. Use of pyrotechnic devices remains the most common type of incident.

Overall violence at sporting events has fallen, but the use of pyrotechnics (flares/fireworks) continues, with football responsible for the vast majority of incidents.
