João Paulo Faustino, nominated by the PSD for a second term on the Opinion Council, stated that RTP's financial situation is a real problem and must be a priority.

Workers' unions from RTP and Lusa express concern over the government's lack of transparency regarding potential plans to merge the two public media companies. They highlight uncertainties about the future, risks to organizational independence, and the possible impact on the quality and identity of public broadcasting. The unions have called for increased clarity from the government and are mobilizing workers for upcoming protests in Lisbon and Porto to defend the autonomy and stability of these institutions.

In a joint statement, the workers' committees pointed to the “lack of information that should be clear and definitive from the Government regarding the potential concentration of Lusa and RTP into a shared space.”

Leitão Amaro says the public broadcaster RTP is facing a sustainability challenge.
