Thirteen people died on Portuguese roads and 470 were detained for being over the legal alcohol limit by the PSP and GNR over six days as part of operations carried out during the New Year period.
Excessive alcohol led to hundreds of arrests. Between Saturday and Wednesday, 1,576 road traffic accidents were recorded on Portuguese roads.
