In ten years' time, Renato Seabra could be released from prison: he will have spent more of his life behind bars than at liberty

A man born in the 1960s in Angola. A young man raised in Cantanhede in the final years of the twentieth century. The two crossed paths and became the central figures in one of the most high-profile crimes in Portuguese society. Carlos Castro died 15 years ago. Renato Seabra is serving a 25-year sentence and, when it ends, he will be 46 and will have spent more of his life in prison than at liberty.
