The president of Iniciativa Liberal, Mariana Leitão, said today that “there is, nor has there ever been, any complaint, report or allegation” of sexual harassment involving presidential candidate Cotrim Figueiredo.

The Socialist Party (PS) MP gave evidence as a witness at the trial in which Pedro Frazão is accused of defamation, stating that the association with the current coordinator of the Left Bloc was “evident”.

If Cotrim's candidacy weren't so strong, there probably wouldn't be an allegation of harassment.

Presidential candidate Jorge Pinto today said, regarding the harassment allegation against Cotrim Figueiredo, that the presumption of innocence should not be confused with the presumption of guilt of a potential victim, and stated that the complaint “is very serious”.

António Filipe said that, despite the Public Prosecutor's decision, an ethical problem persists because the prime minister engaged in other private activities that he should not have.
