“It was a unique opportunity for us to carry out a comprehensive intervention inside the basilica that, to our knowledge, had never been done before,” explained the civil engineer responsible for overseeing the project.
The library reopened on Friday after undergoing works supported by the PRR to “strengthen the safety, preservation and enjoyment of this unique site of national and global heritage”.
The intervention was carried out under the PRR (Recovery and Resilience Plan). Restoration work is still under way in the palace's basilica.
