The first June 10th with António José Seguro as head of state will be on Terceira Island, in the Azores, where Miguel Monjardino resides.

The President of the Republic, António José Seguro, has selected university professor Miguel Monjardino to chair this year's Portugal Day celebrations, which will take place on Terceira Island in the Azores and in Luxembourg. In a statement released on Monday, April 13, on the official website of the Presidency of the Republic, it was announced that the President has appointed Professor Miguel Corte-Real Silveira Monjardino to lead the commemorations for Portugal Day, Camões, and the Portuguese Communities. The Presidency notes that Monjardino has been a resident of Terceira for 63 years, is a guest professor of Geopolitics and Geostrategy at the Catholic University of Portugal, and an international politics columnist for the newspaper Expresso. He holds a law degree from the University of Lisbon and a master's degree in International Security from the University of Reading in the UK, and is the author of several books.
