Anxiety symptoms rise among population, INE reports
Data from the National Statistics Institute (Instituto Nacional de Estatística or INE) shows that 39.4% of people aged 16 and over in Portugal reported symptoms of generalized anxiety in 2025. This represents a significant increase from the previous year, with women, the elderly, and the unemployed identified as the most affected groups. The report highlights that 11.3% of the population experienced severe symptoms.
