100 people evacuated from hotel ship taking on water in the Douro River due to hull breach
A hotel ship with 100 people on board began taking on water on Thursday, March 26, after allegedly suffering a hull breach while navigating the Douro Waterway near Foz do Tua, the National Maritime Authority (AMN) reported on Friday. Passengers and non-maritime crew were safely evacuated. The cause of the incident is under investigation, with forensic divers scheduled to inspect the riverbed. No injuries were reported, and the vessel was successfully docked at Pinhão pier, where the breach was temporarily plugged to allow for transport to a shipyard for repairs.
