The situation at Amadora-Sintra is unsustainable due to a shortage of doctors, a complaint made in an exclusive interview with RTP by the hospital's director of nursing, who resigned on Thursday.

Maria Luísa Ximenez submitted her resignation at the start of the week, saying the 'safe practice of the profession' was not guaranteed and she did not have the support of the health authority. She reports rotas without the necessary specialists, a management post left vacant for two months, and the 'abandonment' by the Ministry of Health in letters sent to hospital managers, the hospital's nurses and the Order of Nurses.
