More than 50% of the country's 3,259 parishes were affected by storm Kristin, the National Association of Parishes (Anafre) revealed today, reporting extensive damage to homes, businesses and forested areas, particularly in the districts of Leiria and Coimbra.
Around 300 personnel are on the ground responding to damage in the Leiria National Forest, which had already been severely affected by the 2017 wildfires and by Storm Leslie.
A substantial part of the forest stands in the Leiria National Forest was partially or completely blown down due to Storm Kristin, the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF) told the Lusa news agency today.
