Rui Rei, president of the public Tagus river transport company, wants to cut the Transtejo-Soflusa deficit in half, which means reducing the need for state capital injections by the same proportion. Measures include remodelling the Barreiro terminal to boost commercial activity, as well as selling integrated tickets for tourists between Cais do Sodré and other points.

Nearly six months into his role as president of Transtejo-Soflusa, Rui Rei speaks with ECO/Local Online in his first major interview since taking office on October 13. The public manager admits that, “with today's knowledge, we could have done things differently” regarding the fleet selection that resulted in the acquisition of ten vessels.
