The vote is scheduled for late Monday afternoon and is the final item on the agenda of the meeting of euro-area finance ministers taking place in Brussels. Ministers will decide the successor to Luis de Guindos, who leaves the post at the end of May.
Centeno is using all his contacts to secure the ECB vice-presidency. Negotiations are being handled by Paulo Rangel and Miranda Sarmento. The Eurogroup will decide on Monday.
