The government will formally seek assistance through the EU Solidarity Mechanism.

Brussels has assured Portugal of its support and announced measures to bolster the resilience of networks, aiming to better protect critical infrastructure and communications from disruptions.

Reaction from the government to Tuesday's report that Portugal will have to pay €8 million under the EU's solidarity mechanism.
