Looking for a job in Portugal? Follow these tips
Websites, referrals, and knocking on doors—there are no secrets to job hunting in Portugal, but some tips can help. First, understand the current reality: you can no longer move to Portugal without a visa, find a job, and then regularize your status. Companies are aware of this and rarely hire undocumented workers. Conversely, with a visa or residence permit, this is no longer an obstacle. Generally, English is required in most professions, especially in customer service, restaurants, and hotels. Your CV must be up to date and clear. Good starting points include the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP), in-person applications at shops, job portals like Net-Empregos, Sapo Emprego, and Indeed Portugal, as well as Facebook groups, LinkedIn, and recruitment agencies.
