In the first round of the presidential election, 75,756 Portuguese emigrants abroad voted in person, giving André Ventura 40.93% of the vote.

The leader of Chega received almost 41% of emigrant votes. Seguro received 23%.

Chega-backed presidential candidate André Ventura appealed to Portuguese emigrants in Switzerland to participate in the second round, arguing that, for the first time in democratic history, their votes “will be decisive.” He framed the contest as an opportunity to “change the system,” accusing PSD, CDS and IL of colluding with Seguro in a “cosy arrangement of interests,” and urged emigrants to cast a decisive vote in the run-off.

João Cotrim Figueiredo won in Spain; Seguro in Germany and the United Kingdom. Gouveia e Melo prevailed in the Russian Federation and Marques Mendes in China.

André Ventura believes emigrants' votes will give him victory in the second round. In response to Gouveia e Melo, he says it is 'pointless' to vote for candidates 'who will carry Luís Montenegro in their arms'. On his birthday he delivered a speech wearing a military uniform.
