Around 50 people from Pombal have had to be relocated because of flood warnings. Journalist Cláudia Valente de Oliveira provides an update from the scene.

The Marinha Grande City Council revealed today that it has re-housed 75 people in the facilities of Sport Império Marinhense after they were transferred from the Municipal Stadium.

The Pombal municipal council has, to date, rehoused 30 people who sought help following the passage of depression Kristin, in a municipality where almost all homes suffered damage, the council's vice-president told the Lusa news agency.

The victims are being supported by the city council's Social Action Service with a view to being temporarily rehoused.

IPMA described Kristin as an “explosive cyclogenesis”, a term used for very intense depressions affecting both wind and rain.

The council will now inspect safety conditions and prepare a retaining structure to stabilise the dwelling at risk.
