An open letter appeals to the Mayor of Lisbon following the non-renewal of Francisco Frazão and Rita Rato as directors of the Teatro do Bairro Alto and the Aljube Museum, respectively.

Miguel Loureiro, director of the São Luiz Municipal Theatre, will take on the additional role of director at the Teatro do Bairro Alto, while Anabela Valente has been appointed to lead the Aljube Museum, Lisbon's municipal culture company announced on Friday, 13 March. The changes follow the non-renewal of Francisco Frazão's contract at the TBA and Rita Rato's departure from the Aljube Museum, both of which have sparked significant debate and criticism within the cultural sector.

EGEAC announced this Friday in a statement the replacements for Francisco Frazão and Rita Rato. Miguel Loureiro, current director of the São Luiz Theatre, will accumulate duties at the TBA.

The remaining directors of the cultural facilities will be reappointed to their respective positions.

The EGEAC administration is evaluating the leadership of cultural venues whose contracts are expiring. “His removal is an act of vandalism,” Tim Crouch tells PÚBLICO regarding Frazão.
