The Batalha Town Council is distributing paper notices door-to-door to residents due to communications difficulties, the municipality's president told the Lusa news agency. The council is organising a volunteer action today to clean up the municipality.
Electrão again highlights the usefulness of the door-to-door collection service for large household appliances — a service that removes tonnes of electrical and electronic waste from the streets. Otherwise, such waste would contaminate the area both visually and environmentally.
The figure represents a 34% increase compared with 2024.
Electrão said in a statement that in 2025 it collected 613 tonnes of equipment, notably 250 tonnes of washing machines and dishwashers and 250 tonnes of fridges and chest freezers.
