More than 61,000 cultural assets from Portuguese museums, monuments, palaces, and archaeological sites have been digitised and are now available online for anyone to view from anywhere in the world, it was announced today.
More than 61,000 cultural items from Portuguese museums, monuments, palaces, and archaeological sites have been digitised and made available online for global access. The project, 'Património Cultural 360', funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), aims to provide universal and free access to cultural heritage. The collection includes items ranging from small jewellery pieces to large sculptures, all accessible via a dedicated website, with a more comprehensive portal expected to launch in June. The initiative involved over 50 specialists and 20 partner entities, with the Minister of Culture, Margarida Balseiro Lopes, highlighting the project as a key example of how technology can broaden access to culture for future generations.
The draft resolution aims to preserve Portuguese digital heritage, including content hosted on Sapo Blogs, a platform scheduled to shut down this year.
