The trial of the four assistants accused of mistreating children at the Casa do Povo de Rabo de Peixe daycare in São Miguel, Azores, has begun.
The women are accused of having consciously committed 16, 17, eight, and three counts of child abuse, respectively.

The incidents reportedly occurred mostly between 2024 and the first half of 2025, with the defendants allegedly committing physical and psychological abuse against infants and children up to three years old.

The case involves crimes against 17 children who were under their care at the Casa do Povo in Rabo de Peixe.
