João Cotrim de Figueiredo is out of the presidential race and does not recommend voting for anyone. He says the Portuguese are faced with a terrible choice between Seguro and Ventura.

In 50 years, there have been four candidates who left the race: Carlos Brito, Ângelo Veloso, Jerónimo de Sousa and Alberto Matos. They withdrew in favour of another candidacy, which went on to win the election.

It is not the first time the candidate has considered withdrawing his bid for the Presidency of the Republic. Also in this paper, João Cotrim Figueiredo hints that he may have spoken with Passos Coelho.

André Ventura said he would not be surprised if António Filipe, Catarina Martins and Jorge Pinto withdrew in favour of the former Socialist secretary-general, but believes they should do so “now”.
