Vilamoura will host an international cancer research course featuring two Nobel Prize winners in Medicine, bringing together young scientists and experts from Portugal and the United States to strengthen scientific cooperation.

Vilamoura is hosting a course on cancer research between May 11 and 17. The initiative is aimed at 30 participants, including doctoral students, doctors, scientists, and early-career post-doctoral researchers.

Funding of 21.15 million euros has been awarded to a team that includes the Champalimaud Foundation. They will implant devices in neurons to destroy tumours.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer worldwide. More than two million cases are diagnosed each year.
